The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says the ‘Oko'wo Dapo’, a welfare scheme recently introduced by his administration to boost the business of women, now has over 50,000 beneficiaries.
Prince Abiodun who made this known today at the Oba's complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, during the validation exercise of Ward Facilitators for the scheme, noted that N500m had been contributed by participants from the pilot three Local Government Areas; Odeda, Ijebu North East and Y ewa North.
The State helmsman urged the facilitators to promote the scheme among womenfolk to capture 200,000 women across the State, towards achieving the goal of the programme.
In her remark, Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun said the success of women was paramount to the present administration, enjoining them to take advantage of the empowerment initiative to uplift their businesses.
Contributing, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Funmilayo Efuwape pointed out that the present administration was passionate about the welfare of women, advising them to seize the opportunity of the programme and get connected to be a beneficiary.
In her remark, one of the Ward Facilitators, Mrs. Kubura Arigbabuwo from Ijebu North East Local Government commended the government for giving women the chance to access loans, and develop better ideas on business management.
