The need for fervent prayers for the nation's peace and security has been reiterated as Ogun First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun joined other women in state in an interdenominational service to pray for the return of peace and tranquility to the nation.
At the event organized by the Ajose Foundation, the pet project of the First Lady, tagged "Ogun Women's Day of Prayer for Nigeria's Peace and Security" at the MTR Hall, GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta, the First Lady said the gathering became necessary not because women could not pray at home but to demonstrate commitment to the peace and progress of Nigeria.
Mrs. Abiodun stressed the need for women as home builders to rise up to the task and seek the face of God more by having a personal relationship with Him for effective intercession for the nation irrespective of religion or denomination adding that similar prayer intercessions were organized by her counterparts in other states.
She added "Whether we are christians, moslems or any other religion, we believe that when we pray, God hears and answers. He blesses and He delivers. Throughout this week, my sisters, fellow First Ladies from other states are also gathering to pray for peace and against violence in different areas".
Leading the Prayer Sessions, former Deputy Governor, Alhaja Salmot Badru and Wife of CAN Chairman in Ogun, Rev. Mrs. Akin Akinsanya, unanimously charged Nigerians to turn from their evil ways, ask for God's forgiveness for Him to have mercy on the country and heal the land.
Those who attended were, the Ogun state Head of Service, Alhaja Selmot Otun, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Funmi Efuwape, former Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Mrs. Titi Oseni Gomez, Wife of former Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmilayo Adesegun, Wife of the Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Mrs. Bolanle Oluomo, members of Spouses of Ogun State Functionaries (SOSGFA), other Christian and moslems among others.
