In a bid to ensure the successful implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund(BHCPF) ,
the Ogun State Government has charged Local Government Chairmen and Medical Officers on the need to ensure that the provision fund received serves its purpose of quality Healthcare service to the people, especially at the grassroots.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker gave the charge at a Stakeholders Meeting on the implementation of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund and Improving Primary Health Care system in the state held in Abeokuta.
She said that there was need to ensure that the money spent to upgrade the Primary Health Centres serve the people appropriately.
Dr Coker stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration remained committed to quality and affordable healthcare service to residents, noting that it was impossible for the State to change the health indices outcomes for mothers, children and prolong life expectancy without addressing healthcare at the grassroots.
In his address, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuwape said that funding of Primary Health Care( PHC) was important, noting that the state had ensured transparency, by engaging Local Government chairmen and officials of Ministry of Health in the day-to-day running of the PHCs.
