*Ogun Judicial Panel: Improve Police welfare to stop harassment of genuine Nigerians - Poultry Farmer appeals to Govt.*

Mr. Semiu Musbau, a poultry farmer has called on government to improve the welfare of police officers and other security personnel so that they would stop harassing genuine and innocent Nigerians going about their lawful business.

Musbau made the call on Wednesday while defending his petition filed against some members of the disbanded Special Anti Robbery Squad, at the Magistrate Court 1, Isabo, Abeokuta on the abuse of his human right, harassment and the unnecessary delay while coming from where he went to purchase 650 day old chickens and turkeys which led to the death of the birds.

According to the petitioner, "I am not against Police checking or asking questions from people but when they see that the person is a genuine and innocent Nigerian, he or she should not be harassed or made to face untold hardship all because of bribe".

While agreeing that some police officers are actually good officers, Mr. Musbau appealed to government for a proper reform of Nigerian Police, look in their direction and work out a better welfare package for them, saying we would all be better for it as a nation.

Musbau also used the avenue to call on government to also compensate him adequately for the loss incurred from the death of the birds due to negligence on the part of the police officers.
