LIONS CLUB RAISES AWARENESS ON CANCER : CALLS FOR MORE INVOLVEMENT.

The District Governor of 404B1 Nigeria, Lion Oluremi Lynda Odunmbaku, has called on members of Region 9,Abeokuta Lions  family of the Club to take lionism as a way of networking, friendship and a means of working together to alleviate the problem of the less privileged in the society. 

Lion Odunmbaku who said this while addressing members at a sensitization programme organised for children living with cancer, held at Lion's Den, Oke Mosan said the club was meant to lobby and identify with prominent individuals who can stand in gap to support the less privileged in terms of health issue in the society.

The District Governor, in her charge said the fight against  cancer and winning it, makes them heroines,  appealing to members to stop investing in  extravagant lifestyles, but pay more attention to supporting the less privileged.

She commended the members of Abeokuta Lions Family for putting together the event as well as  raising funds to relief, if not to put an end to it.

Earlier in her awareness talk, Pediatrician Consultant, Dr Morufat Mojisola Ogundeyi said cancer is an abnormal growth or tumors that end life untimely if not detected early in the body.

Ogundeyi said parents often neglect the health of their children in all areas, urging them to make the health of their wards as priority.

In her explanation, she pointed out that cancer can affect any part of the body, noting that when headache is persistent and drug has been administered and there is no changes such individual should visit a doctor for counselling. 

She added that some  of the factors that aggravate cancer included lack of  awareness, poverty mentality, ignorance and superstitious beliefs amongst others.

Ogundeyi  appealed to government at all levels to invest more in the health sector, noting if more NGOs and private bodies are involved in  community support, such move would help reduce the risk. 

The Region Chairman, Lion Kamo'rdeen Adewale Fajobi in his welcome addressed appreciated members of the club for selfless and  unwavering  support advising them not to deviate from the ethics and conduct of the club.
