Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has been identified as the heartbeat and engine room which propels government’s developmental projects.
The State’s Head of Service (HoS), Alhaja Selimot Ottun, gave this submission while playing host to the Special Advisers to the State Governor on Revenue, Mr. Jide Sanwo and Mr. Adegbenga Adeshina, in her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying government appreciates the crucial role of the revenue agency, in fulfilling its mandate and social responsibilities to the people.
Alhaja Ottun charged the Special Advisers to harness every potential embedded in the various categories of staff in the agency to generate more revenue for the State government, adding that Ogun was blessed with hardworking, intelligent and committed Civil Servants, who have the wherewithal to move the State forward, with needed support from the political office holders.
The Special Advisers in their separate submissions, noted that, as a revenue generating agency, the OGIRS was ready to support the HoS for the State government’s vision to be actualised, pointing out that, considering the staff strength of the agency and the need to be Covid-19 preventive measures compliant, there was an urgent need for more office space to accommodate its staff.
The Head, Corporate Affairs of the agency, Mrs. Oluyomi Dawodu, appreciated the HoS for the confidence reposed on Civil Servants, pledging more commitment of the staff for higher productivity.
