Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen in Ogun State have been charged to support the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in its quest to enhancing lives of rural dwellers.
The Commissioner for Rural Development, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun gave the charge during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Local Government Chairmen on graders allocated to the Federal Constituency in the State, held in Abeokuta, saying the purpose of the meeting was to assess the condition of graders and how the Ministry could assist in repairing the ones that were not in good condition.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, ESV Jubril Lukan, said the graders were for Local Governments that falls within each federal constituency, advising the Chairmen to have an updated records of roads graded in each council area, as well as synergise for effective service delivery.
In her contribution, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Princess Olapeju Shote, urged the Chairmen to be prepared for the challenges of heavy downpour in their various local governments and also ensure that the rural dwellers feel the dividends of democracy.
The Director, Planning Research and Statistics in the Ministry, Mr. Olakunle Oyesanwen in his contribution, urged the Chairmen to maintain and give urgent report on the condition of the graders, promising that the Ministry's engineers would repair faulty ones as soon as possible.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairmen, Ewekoro Transition Committee Chairman, Mr. Babayemi Emmanuel appreciated the Ministry for its support and welfare of the rural dwellers, urging it to assist them procure new graders to replace the old ones.
