The Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has distributed palliative items to People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), to cushion the negative effects of the pandemic period on them.
The Executive Secretary, State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OGSACA), Dr. Kehinde Fatungase, while receiving the palliative materials in Abeokuta, said the donation was apt, as Covid-19 would have more adverse effect on PLWHA, noting that relief items would alleviate the sufferings of the people.
Dr. Fatungase appreciated the First Lady for the gesture, which he said would reduce the effect of the pandemic on the people living with HIV/AIDS, promising that the materials would be distributed across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
“I want to appreciate the Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Abiodun for her laudable gesture in alleviating the sufferings the Covid-19 may have caused the people living with HIV/AIDS in the State. No doubt, the relief materials will go a long way in sustaining them”, he said.
In her remarks, the Coordinator of the Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter (NEPWHAN), Mrs. Bukola Edumatti, appreciated Mrs. Abiodun for her magnanimity, saying it was a timely intervention.
Also, the Coordinator, Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Lawal, thanked the Wife of the Governor for remembering them, adding that they were expecting more, in terms of empowerment programmes to consolidate their means of livelihood.
