LEE GROUP DONATES FACE MASKS: AS GOVT.CALLS FOR MORE LOCAL PRODUCTION

In order to curb the continued rise in cases of coronavirus, Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has canvassed for local production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Engr. Salako-Oyedele, stated this in Abeokuta while receiving on behalf of the State government, another set of 300,000 face masks, donated by a Chinese firm, Lee Group of Companies.

According to her, ‘’with the current transmission stage and continued rise in coronavirus cases, the importance of PPE cannot be overrated. There is need to ensure a lot of such equipment are readily available, especially face masks which can be produced locally by our manufacturing companies; since Europe and Asia, where procurement of such goods could no longer meet demands, having been the worst hit by the pandemic’’, she said.

The Deputy Governor commended the company for the continued support, advising it not to relent in sensitising its employees and the larger society on how best to stay safe during this period.

Earlier in her remark, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, appreciated the company for the donation, saying the gesture was a clear demonstration of its care for the State’s health workers and general public.

In her contributions, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe, noted that the Company had been employing citizens of the State, as well as showed high level of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), saying Government was opened for more mutual and beneficial relationship.

The General Manager of the Company, Mr. Philip Seng, gave kudos to Ogun on the management of COVID-19 since the index case, which he noted, indicated the Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration’s passion for the citizens’ wellbeing, adding that the donation was to complement government’s efforts in fighting the pandemic in the State.
