FACE MASK: OGUN COMMISSIONER ON ENFORCEMENT, SENSITISATION TOUR OF MARKETS

The Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Funmi Efuwape has embarked on enforcement and sensitisation tour to Lafenwa market in Abeokuta North, Kuto, Adatan markets, both in Abeokuta South, Siun in Obafemi Owode and Sagamu Market in Sagamu Local Government Area to ensure compliance with government’s directive on the use of facemask by the people of the State.

          Speaking with the press during the visits, the Commissioner warned that markets who failed to enforce the use of facemask by its members would be closed down for two months.

          Expressing displeasure on the non-compliant by many people to the use of facemask, she enjoined the people to adhere to the directives to avoid facing the wrath of the law, saying, ‘’the use of the mask is for our safety’’.

          "We are coming back in a week time to see if our people adhere to the use of facemask. We will go round by Monday to make sure that our people adhere to the use of facemask, any market found not adhering to the directive of the state government will be closed for at least two months, to serve as a deterrent to others", she said.

          Efuwape urged men and women, particularly, food and meat sellers in the various markets to cultivate proper hygiene by covering food items to ensure they were well protected against droplets associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

          In their separate remarks, the Iyaloja, Falawa market, Sagamu and the market leader, Remo, Chief (Mrs.) Olasande Oduwaye and Iyaloja, Kuto market, Alhaja Iswatu Adewuyi, thanked the state government for its commitment to people’s welfare, pledging their support to ensure safety in markets across the State.
