NIGERIA FIRST COVID-19 MOBILE LAB OPENS IN OGUN

As part of efforts to flatten the curve of the Coronavirus in the State, Ogun State Government has opened the first COVID-19 Mobile laboratory in the Country.


          Speaking at the official opening held at the premises of the 250- bedded Mitros Hospital in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Salako-Oyedele, described the lab as another game changer in the management of the pandemic in the country, noting that Ogun was the first state to do so in Nigeria.

          "Our partners are here and they are committed to to ensure we are able to quickly identify anybody who has the disease in the State and help us to flatten the curve and manage the cases that we have.

          ‘’His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said it is very important for us to follow the procedures that have been given to us about isolation, staying at home, wearing of face mask and the likes. Nevertheless, we are still working hard, so that when these cases occur, we are on ground to make sure we are protected in the State", she remarked.

          The Deputy Governor pointed out that the laboratory had met all the conditions of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), ‘’as it is situated in a safe environment, with capacity of testing over 100 samples in a day which would be scaled up before the end of the week to about a 100 centres’’, adding that testing around the state has commenced, while stakeholders in Local Government Areas would be used to sensitize the people to come for the test.

          The COVID-19 mobile lab was put together by 54Gene X FCMB, in collaboration with the State Government.
