Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has called on women across the globe to always love and support each other, noting that this move would foster unity and better achievements in their various fields.
The Deputy-Governor, who made this known, while fielding questions from newsmen on the occasion of the 2020 International Women's Day celebration themed "I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights", on Saturday, said
"an equal world is an enabled world and if every woman can come together and do their bits it would help bring about gender equality".
According to her, behind every successful woman was a tribe of other successful women who had her back and reiterated that it was important for women to support each other at work places, families, and homes. Salako-Oyedele added that with love and support, a lot of progress would be achieved.
Speaking about the position of women in Ogun State, she, however, commended the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for believing in women and building a team around them in his cabinet, stressing that it was an indication of his respect and trust for the women folk.
"His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun is the only Governor in the South West States of Nigeria that has a female Deputy-Governor and that speaks for itself. He is someone who believes in the capacity of women and has demonstrated it in the most clear way possible, by bringing women from different fields on board", she noted.
According to her, "Most of the Ministries that are his core objectives such as Education, Health, Commerce and Industry, Women Affairs have Women as Commissioners and Special Advisers as well as the State Head of Service and this shows that this government is depended on the capacity of women. He knows that the women can deliver on his very crucial aspects of his agenda" .
