RED CROSS SOCIETY LAUDED FOR HUMANITARIAN SERVICES

The Nigerian Red Cross Society has been commended for her commitments towards various humanitarian services which had provided succour to the people in times of distress.


Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, gave this commendation when she received in audience, the State branch of the Society, led by its Chairman, Prince Joseph Obalanlege, in her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta saying, ‘’Red Cross is recognised globally and represents an emblem of hope to people in distress’’.

She expressed government’s readiness to partner with the society, as well as, willing to identify with any organisation that extends hands of assistance to the people.

"His Excellency is actually in the process of addressing the emergency response set up in the state and here, you will have a role to play, as we go through the process of reviving what we have and looking at ways to improve on them and make them compatible to the needs of the 21st century towns and cities in Ogun State.

‘’We will work together with your organisation to see how we can integrate your expertise in disaster management to our programme", she said.

Earlier in his address, Prince Joseph Obalanlege noted that the Society was a humanitarian organisation established by acts of parliaments of 1960, to serve as an auxiliary to the State and Federal Government in times of disasters, epidemics, health hazards and also rendering of other humanitarian roles in times of peace and war.

          While commending the present administration in the State for its various achievements since assumption of office, he called for more in-depth considerations in handling health related issues and enhance proficiency in managing disasters.
