AMOSU OFFERS RECIPE FOR ACCIDENT-FREE SEASON

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, Comrade Soji Amosu has  charged motorists as well as commuters to avoid accidents usually associated with Christmas and New Year period.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Kunle Ewuoso, the Chairman noted there was nothing evil or satanic about the period but with the people's  desire to meet their set goals, plans for the period.

The number one Journalist in the state stated that report have shown that during the period many drivers speed excessively with the mindset to go many trips in order to make more money, while the commuters, majority who are sellers of items for Christmas and New Year, always encourage drivers and motorcyclists to drive at top speed as to meet their customers' demands or profitableness

He also observed that because of the eagerness to make extra money during the season, many drivers and riders would not create time to carry out exigent repairs of their vehicles and motorcycles. This he  described as dangerous.

Amosu also opined that many of the accidents involving private motorists or motorcyclists this season were psychological  because according to him, many would loose concentration behind the wheels as a result of thoughts of how to meet family needs during the period.

The statement added that the NUJ leader who poured encomium on the Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun on the ongoing  rehabilitation of roads across the state, said it would help in reducing accidents during the season.

Amosu expressed that if only  drivers and riders could avoid excessive speeding, do exigent repairs of their vehicles and bikes, and families planned moderately, stave off unnecessary thinking behind the wheels during this season, accidents would indubitably be avoided.

He believed as much as the people are ecstatic about the season, they should be prayerful and hold on to God who, according to him, is the "reason for the season."

He prayed and wished all the lofty plans and aspirations of the people for the season would be be fulfilled.
