The concerns of Parents and even Government at different levels over the employability or otherwise of graduates of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions can now be put to rest as the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa has infused more into her curriculum to equip its products to stand shoulder high among their peers, in any industry they find themselves, according to the Rector of of the Institute, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Olanike Akinkurolere.
Welcoming with enthusiasm students, guests and visitors into the OGITECH Igbesa Campus as activities gear up for its 3rd Convocation Ceremony, the Acting Registrar of the Institute, Mrs. Johnson Olajumoke, OGITECH, said the school was proud to again showcase many graduating students in its Honours List, all of whom have proved that they are ready to impact the world with the knowledge and skills acquired in the course of their study at the technology-driven Institute.
From creation in 2006 till date, OGITECH has had two history-making Convocation ceremonies, and the Institute says the 3rd Convocation Ceremony features various activities that will raise the bar.
The week-long event will start with a Jumat Service on Friday, 25th of October, 2019 at the OGITECH Mosque by 1pm, followed by an Interdenominational Service on Sunday, 27th of October, at the OGITECH Chapel by 12noon.
Prof. Taiwo Edun of the Faculty of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state is billed to deliver a paper titled “Entrepreneurship versus Employability and the 21st Century Labour Market Challenge for Nigerian Youths” at the Convocation Lecture on Monday 28th October, 2019.
Unarguably, nothing but great strides have been the hallmark of the Institute's Rector, Engr. Dr. Mrs Akinkurolere who has embarked on and completed various projects since assuming duty at OGITECH in 2014. It then goes without saying that the new 2000-capacity Twin-Lecture Theatre is an addition to the feathers on her cap. The 2-wing Lecture Theatre will be commissioned at the Grand Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday 30th October, 2019 by the Governor of Ogun State and Moderator to the Institute, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Hundreds of students who have successfully completed their National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes will on the same Wednesday, the 30th of October, be awarded their certificate as bona fide graduates of the school.
As OGITECH continues to live up to its mission to achieve an efficient and effective Information Technology-driven economy for sustainable developments, the Registrar says fresh secondary school leavers are more than ever before endeared to OGITECH, the Institute with no doubt a rising popularity.
