OGSG CHARGES AGURA OF GBAGURA ON PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has charged the ninth Agura of Gbagura, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saburee Babajide Bakre, to collaborate with other royal fathers in Egbaland, to strengthen the unity of Egba kingdom.

 
          Governor Abiodun who stated this at the coronation ceremony of the monarch, held at Agura Abeokuta, noted that building the future of Ogun State together Mantra, required all inclusiveness and support of the citizens, regardless of creed, ethnic or political affiliations.
 
          Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said, unity among sections of great people could only enhance the development of the Egba nation, adding that Egbaland was not only strategic on account of being the State capital, but significant in the numerous achievements of its sons and daughters.
 
          According to Abiodun, “As an Administration, we place high premium on our rich customs and traditions of which our traditional rulers are the custodians because they are closer to the grassroots. The present administration in Ogun values traditions, treasures feedback and wise counsel from time to time”.
         He enjoined the citizenry to continue to support his administration as it unveils its policies and programmes.
         Earlier in his remarks, former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, urged the monarch to work closely with other Obas in Egbaland, particularly the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, in order to bring about massive development to Egbaland and the entire State.
          Obasanjo also advised Oba Bakre to ensure peaceful co-existence and unity among the sons and daughters of Agura, Owu and Egbaland, and shun sycophants.
          In their separate goodwill messages, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Iyalode of Yoruba land,  Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Mother of the Day, Ambassador Muyibat Oyefusi, congratulated Oba Bakre for ascending the throne of his forefathers, urging him to promote peace, unity and love amongst the sons and daughters of Agura, home and in the Diaspora.
          In his response, the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee  Bakre who appreciated the Gbaguras, home and abroad for their support, called on them to join hands with him for a successful reign, expressing his determination to succeed by rekindling  hope and promoting harmony with other Egba Obas.
