The Ogun State Government has declared that henceforth any property found to be a hideout of criminals would not only be demolished but the owner would also be prosecuted at a competent court.
The Government decision is coming on the heels of increasing insecurity in the State which according to Governor, Prince Dapi Abiodun requires drastic measures to combat.
The Governor also disclosed that, to raise enough funds, to adequately fight the criminals, his administration was set to re-launch a “Security Trust Fund” to allow individuals and all stakeholders to make voluntary contributions.
Abiodun’s predecessor, Governor Ibikunle Amosun during his first tenure launched similar Trust Fund to raise funds to tackle insecurity.
Abiodun spoke at a Press briefing in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office.
The Governor said, “Let me use this opportunity to sound this very strong note of warning to our landlords and any property owner, that any property or facility found to be serving as hideout to criminals will not only be taken over by the State, but we will demolish them.”
