The Ogun State Government has presented staff of office to the new Olokine of Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, in Ijebu Igbo West Local Council Development Area, Oba Abayomi Banjo, with a charge to see his appointment as a call to serve his people and an opportunity to create enabling atmosphere that would facilitate rapid development of Ojowo and its environs.
The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun stated this at the official installation and presentation of staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new Monarch, at Ijebu Igbo Girls Grammar School, Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo.
Represented by the Director of Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Adesoji Adewuyi, the Governor urged the Oba to mobilize his subjects and the community for the enhancement of socio-economic development that would complement Government’s efforts.
‘’It is my belief that you will join hands with other Royal Fathers in Ijebu land to contribute positively to the promotion of culture and welfare of the entire people of our dear State.
‘’As a responsive and responsible Government, I must say that we really appreciate the co-operation and support of the good people and traditional rulers in Ijebu Traditional Council and other Councils. Let me use this medium to once again appreciate the good people of our dear State for being part of our success story in the past eight years", Amosun stated.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Banjo appreciated the State Government, Ijebu Traditional Council and those who contributed to the process of his enthronement pledging that during his reign, dividends of democracy would spread to the length and breadth of Ojowo and its environs.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman, Ijebu Igbo West Local Council Development Area, Hon. Adegoke Adekanmbi, appreciated the State Government and Ojowo kingmakers, for their consideration and approval of the traditional ruler, noting that the decision would further foster rapid development in Ojowo and its surrounding Communities.
